In our lives we live in different tenses. Some of us live with the memories of our past while others live in hope of a better or more rewarding future. Not many people choose to live life now.
The word now is used in the Bible many times to describe our union with Christ and or our relationship to His blessings in our life. In Romans 8:1 it says, “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” Many of us read through that scripture and never realize the tense that it is referring to. It says that right now you no longer have to feel condemned or condemn yourself when you are in Christ. Wow, what an amazing revelation.
In Malachi 3:10 it says, “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.” God says now! Most people never take this challenge that God is offering. Most people say, “one day when I get my kids through school..” or “one day when I am completely out of debt…” Those are not the times that you want to put God to the test financially. He says to prove Him now! God is not a future God, He is a right now in the very middle of your situation God.
Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Faith is now! Never does God want us wishing and hoping all of our life. God has told us many times through His Word that we are to live in the NOW tense. Our past is behind us, our future is ahead of us, but God has given us power and authority to rule and reign right NOW in this life. We no longer have to wish that things would change one day. We can boldly go before God in prayer, confident that today things are changing and He is at work.
The next time you pray I want to challenge you to change the tense of your prayer life. God wants to move on your behalf today, not tomorrow, not next year, but now. He is a God that likes to challenge us to believe Him to move in the present tense of our lives. Take the challenge and watch God begin to change the scenery around you NOW!
