In life, there are many opinions made about you. Some from others, and many from yourself. It seems that we are our worst critics.
Where is your mind?
As Christians, we have to be very careful where we allow our minds to go. Most Christians are trying to fight a spiritual fight while being trapped inside a soulish war.
2 Corinthians 10:4 (KJV)
For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;
(MSG) The tools of our trade aren’t for marketing or manipulation, but they are for demolishing that entire massively corrupt culture. We use our powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ.
If satan can keep you in the battlefield of your mind, he will defeat you every time. Your soul is your mind, will, and emotions. We are naturally emotional beings. We are easily moved by our emotions.
2 Corinthians 5:7 (KJV)
For we walk by faith, not by sight:
The bible tells us that believers are not to walk by what we see, or you could say, by our emotions. We are to walk by faith.
2 Corinthians 4:13 (KJV)
We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;
The bible refers to faith as a spirit. We are to have the spirit of faith. Faith is contagious; you can catch the spirit of faith if you are around it long enough. Faith is released through our speech. Anything that God creates, satan manufactures a counterfeit.
2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
So we see that there is a spirit of faith and a spirit of fear. We as believers are to master fear with the power, love, and sound mind that God gives to us. It said that God gave us the things that counter against fear. The definition of sound mind literally means that you are sane. Sane is the opposite of insane. Fear will literally drive you insane.
Proverbs 23:7 (KJV)
For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he…
Luke 6:45 (KJV)
…for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
As Christians, we have to be very careful where we allow our thoughts to go. We have power in our words; therefore if our thoughts produce our words, having the wrong thoughts could produce the wrong words. If we do not examine every thought, those thoughts begin to examine us, persuading us that we are what we are thinking of. A doctor examines a patient in order to make a prediction of their condition. Too many times we allow our mind to tell us what we are and what we have, predicting our condition of life.
Faith will change your image
Romans 12:3 (KJV)
…God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
We all have faith, but we must all grow in the faith that we have. In this battle of our mind, the spirit of faith is necessary to control what we think about ourselves.
Philemon 1:6 (KJV)
That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.
Our faith must be communicated by us acknowledging every good thing that is in us in Christ Jesus.
Romans 2:11 (MSG)
…God pays no attention to what others say (or what you think) about you. He makes up his own mind.
If there are good things in us because we are in Christ, you can be certain that satan will do everything he can to convince you that you are not in Christ. Satan will constantly try to get you in yourself, instead of in Christ. He will remind you of your faults, your shortcomings, your past, and your surroundings. If he can do this, and he will try, then he can keep you from acknowledging who you are in Christ, which in return will make your faith ineffective. Your faith becomes effectual by the acknowledging of who you now are in Christ, and it becomes ineffectual by acknowledging who you are in you.
Romans 12:2 (KJV)
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Stop living by the opinions of man. The words that have been spoken over you as a child do not compare to the words that God has spoken over you as a child. We have to line our confession up with His confession about us.
God doesn’t care what you think
God doesn’t care what you think; He has already made His mind up about you.
2 Corinthians 5:17 – You are a new creature in Christ. You are no longer who you used to be. He no longer sees you the way others have seen you. He sees you the way He has created you.
Philippians 4:13 – You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. You can do anything and everything now because He is helping you. You are no longer limited to your ability and shortcomings.
Ephesians 2:10 – You are His workmanship, His handiwork, His masterpiece, created in Christ unto good works. He is constantly working on you and in you. You are the apple of His eye. You are the best thing that He ever created. He created you to do great and mighty things.
2 Corinthians 2:14 – Everywhere you go you are triumphant in Christ.
Romans 8:37 – In everything you face you are more than a conqueror.
Genesis 1:26 – You are made in the image of God. God thought you were special enough to make you just like Him. You are not made to look like your parents or your economic surroundings. You are made to look like Heaven itself.
You are more than you think you are. You are created in the very image of God Himself. God does not care what others think or say about you. He doesn’t even care what you think or say about you. Your opinion and the opinions of others will never altar His opinion of who you are in His eyes. You are now in Christ, and He sees you the way Christ made you.
